This is how we do it!
In order to be a worldwide organization, we have to be organized! If we all use some simple standard practices, everything will go more smoothly for everyone.
"I just pick a local donation place and drop off bread?"
Answer: Yes, but you need to communicate with the organization in charge. Make sure that a donation site or food pantry is okay with fresh deliveries. It is important to tell them that you will advertise it publicly if the donation site is not serviced by people such as a stand-alone pantry.
"Is it legal to make fresh bread donations, and am I protected by the law when I do so?"
Answer: YES! Millions of pound of food and groceries go to waste each year. To encourage companies and organizations to donate healthy food that would otherwise go to waste, they are protected from criminal and civil liability under the Good Samaritan Food Donation Act. Read the act here: Legal Stuff
"How do we make sure the bread does not go to waste?"
Answer: It is our job to advertise the availability of the bread we donate. That is done by making public posts on social media and asking our friends and even the organization in charge of the donation site to share your post. Take clear photos and/or video, and always tag Benevolent Bakers on social media so that we can share it too. (Our social links are in the footer of this site always!)
"How should we package our bread?"
Ultimately it's up to you. The easiest option is a bread bag, but there are lots of options! Just realize that you must label your packaging as shown in the example photo, so a clear, food safe, plastic bag is the most professional looking and inexpensive option.
In the US we have found these bags to be reliable and fit a wide range of shapes and sizes of loaves:

"What about labels? What information needs to be on them? Do I print my own?"
Answer: You can print on any labels you want. Four things must to be on the labels consistently. The Benevolent Bakers logo, your first name only, the date the bread was baked, and a list of ingredients in the bread listed from largest volume to smallest.
In the US we use a 4" x 2" label like this:

Can't print your own labels? Email us, and we will print some for you or help you get them printed locally. Reach out to info@benevolentbakers.org
Feel free to write any positive message you like on the label in the language of your country. Please keep it generic and non-religious, because we don't want anyone to feel discriminated against or unqualified to receive the gift of your bread. The love behind the loaf will be felt!

"I'm a baker, and I want to connect with Benevolent Bakers on social media. How do I do that?"
Answer: We want to follow you back! Please drop us a message on the platform(s) of your choice so we know who to connect with.
