Though we know there will be more Benevolent Bakers than can ever be listed on this site from around the world. These are the bakers that have committed to keeping the movement going as of right now. We look forward to adding YOU to the list!
Henry Hunter • Co-Founder • Blythewood, SC • USA
Henry was ready to start a bakery when COVID-19 hit hard in SC, and so he took to the internet to share what he had learned about baking over the years. He went from a few viewers each Saturday to more than 27,000 members in his Facebook group "Baking Great Bread at Home". That all happened in a hurry as more people began learning to bake while stuck at home during pandemic lockdowns. He continues to teach baking online and has a spirit of sharing that made him the perfect co-founder of Benevolent Bakers. Henry has made serving Veterans in need his focus, as he is a Veteran of the US Army himself.

Dave Palmer • Co-Founder • Paxton, FL • USA
Self-taught baker with over 20 years experience, and a former owner/operator chef of 7 years. He decided to stay home with his family and share his cooking and recipes with the world via the Internet during the pandemic. He now dons the title "Internet Chef" proudly working with food suppliers and brands to teach and inspire others to cook at home. Dave is mostly a commercial yeast baker that occasionally dabbles in sourdough. Pizza making is his favorite, but he's also known for cranking out sandwich bread and buns for his family. Food is his love language, so sharing the love in this way may be his best idea yet! Conversations between Dave, Henry, and another baking buddy sparked the idea of Benevolent Bakers. The rest will definitely be history!

Jill Asbill • Red Oak, TX • USA
A Jill-of-all-trades quite literally... she is a small business owner, crochet queen, homestead farmer, jiu-jitsu practitioner, homeschool mom, and baker of many delicious baked goods. Fun fact: In the summer of 2021, Jill's sourdough starter, "Betty" was first dried as an experiment and sent to Dave to start his sourdough starter "Burt". Today she sells dried starter on her website thehareandthehatterhomestead.com

Debbie Anderson • Lebanon, TN • USA
Debbie started baking in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Even though she was still working full time, there were so many groups and videos out about baking that she caught the bug. Starting with cinnamon rolls and sticky buns and decided she would never buy bread in the store again, so she started working on sandwich breads. Henry Hunter was instrumental in teaching her baking techniques through his Facebook group! She loves making sourdough, but spends just as much time making yeasted breads. Debbie loves to bake and share with friends and co-workers, so sharing with those in need through Benevolent Bakers was a perfect fit! She is very involved in her church and community, and is instilling a love for baking in her young grandchildren.

Grace Stronge • Ajax, Ontario • Canada
Grace’s love for anything-sourdough, began in early 2021 in part due to the need for a creative outlet. Growing up as a first generation immigrant and being reliant on food banks growing up, Grace knew intimately what it was like to struggle and to fight hard for everything in life. This experience pushes her to put the same dedication and attention to detail that she uses in her professional life into her other venture as an artisanal baker. She loves crafting intricate sourdough bread items with elegant designs, as well as decadently gooey cinnamon buns and mouth-watering focaccias. She bakes for the love of it, and has gifted her products to friends and family as well as the wider community. Therefore, it was only natural for her to become one of the Benevolent Bakers.

Terri Briede • Merida, Yucatan • Mexico
Terri began her baking journey in 1987 when her youngest daughter was diagnosed with a severe dairy allergy. As a mother of four she took action when she saw a need, and that's exactly how she continues to be now as a part of Benevolent Bakers. She retired in Mexico circa 2003 with her husband after a long career in Law (Department of Justice), Rick Hansen Foundation, and Telecommunications (Sales and Marketing). In Merida, where they live in Mexico, there is a communal approach to benevolence. Those that have, share with those that do not. Terri has a great love for making bread, sharing it with those who may need it in her community, and she an asset to both her community and Benevolent Bakers!
